St. Louis Park Teen Accused of Murder Seeks Venue Change

Michael Swanson's attorney filed the paperwork Tuesday.

The attorney for the St. Louis Park teenager accused of in November filed a motion to change venues Tuesday, according to court records.

The Des Moines Register reports that Michael Richard Swanson's attorney, Charles Kenville, filed the motion because of the intense media attention the case has received. The 17-year-old Swanson reportedly stole his mother's car in St. Louis Park on the night of Nov. 15, then drove to Iowa and killed the clerks in separate robbery attempts. The teenager allegedly shot Vicky Bowman-Hall, 47, and Sheila Myers, 61, so they couldn't later identify him to police.

Prosecutors agree that the case should be moved out of Humboldt County, the newspaper reports. Swanson is set to stand trial there on June 20.
