St. Louis Park Sees an Increase in Poverty Rate

Roughly 8 percent of residents are considered to be in poverty.

St. Louis Park—like a number of other metro area suburbs—has seen an increase in poverty in recent years, according to a MinnPost report.

According to Census data cited in the report, St. Louis Park's poverty rate is currently around 8 percent—up from 5 percent in 2000.

The poverty rate across Minnesota's suburban cities has shown similar growth, hitting 7.6 percent in 2010—an increase from 4 percent in 2000 and 5.8 percent in 2007.
