Two to Six Inches of Snow Expected Through Friday

Updated 11 p.m. Friday: The National Weather Service has again dropped the expected snowfall amount for St. Louis Park. We could receive between 2 to 6 inches through Friday.

That means the morning commute could be difficult, so be careful out there.

If we receive more than 3 inches of snow, a parking ban will go into effect.

Original post Wednesday night: St. Louis Park will be in a winter weather advisory from 6 p.m. Thursday until 6 p.m. Friday, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

"A winter weather advisory for snow means that periods of snow will cause primarily travel difficulties," according to a NWS weather statement. "Be prepared for snow covered roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving."

The NWS has decreased the forecast snow totals in our area. When we were in a winter weather watch for Thursday and Friday, 4 to 8 inches was possible. Now 2 to 6 inches are forecast.

If we receive more than 3 inches of snow, a parking ban will go into effect.

The forecast for maximum sustained winds also has dropped by 5 mph, to 5 to 10 mph.

The Weather Channel is calling this storm "Q," after "the Broadway Express subway line in New York City."

Southern Minnesota will receive the highest snow totals from "Q," according to the NWS.
