Seven Weeks After Jablonski Injury, Family Reflects

The Benilde-St. Margaret's sophomore hockey player was seriously injured in a game on Dec. 30.

Seven weeks. Wow. Jack's injury occurred seven weeks ago today. If only we could turn back time ... Life has been nothing short of surreal since Jack's accident. We're so overwhelmed by all that's happened and the changes we have to make. There are days when we wake up and think, yes, we can do this, and then there are days (like so many this week) when we don't know how we're going to get through all of this. We will, we have to. For Jack.

It's been nearly two months since Jack Jablonski, a 16-year-old sophomore hockey player at Benilde-St. Margaret's, was severely injured during a game, and on Friday, his family used the occasion to reflect.

Posting on his CaringBridge site, Jablonski's family said despite the ups and downs, Jack continues to shine:

And then there's Jack. He truly amazes us. How he remains upbeat through all of this is simply incredible. He's always smiling, always positive, always determined, and always gracious. We're relieved to see how he's adjusted to rehab and that he continues to make great progress. He's a joy to be around and we get a kick out of his sense of humor and how he constantly teases all of us. Yesterday he even commented on how funny he thinks he's become, and said it with a laugh and a twinkle in his eye. And he's right.
