New Record High Temperature for Twin Cities

A temperature of 52 degrees on Jan. 10, 2012, broke the former record high set in 1990.

If you were tempted to go outside in your shorts on Tuesday, you weren’t alone.

Unseasonably warm temperatures throughout the 2011-2012 winter season continued, with a record-shattering 52 degrees hit today, according to WCCO-TV. The former high temperature for Jan. 10 was 49 degrees, recorded in 1990.

The “heat wave” in the Twin Cities metro area isn’t predicted to last long. The National Weather Service reports there is a 30 percent chance of snow on Wednesday, with temperatures forecast to dip to 32 degrees during the day. A low of around 12 degrees is expected Wednesday night.
