Jablonski Sitting Up Several Times a Day

Jack Jablonski, the sophomore hockey player who was paralyzed after taking a check from behind in a game on Dec. 30, is sitting up in a chair several times a day, according to his CaringBridge site.

A new post on the site by Jablonski's family states:

Imagine how excited he was when he first sat up a week ago (Tuesday). There's a special chair (the pink chair) in which Jack can sit for short periods of time and take in the world from a vertical position. We were able to wheel him around the hospital floor and give him a tour of where he'd been since he arrived after his injury. It was fascinating to hear how he thought things looked versus what he saw once he sat up.

When Jablonski isn't sitting up, he's able to use special "prism glasses" that allow him to see his room from a normal point of view despite lying in a Hennepin County Medical Center bed.

The improvements mean that Jablonski could soon be leaving HCMC and heading to rehab:

Jack is getting stronger by the day, and that brings him closer to moving on to rehab. We're excited for him to begin the next chapter of his life, which we anticipate to be some time in the next week.
