Local Intersection Among State's Most Dangerous

The intersection of Highway 7 and Aquila Avenue in St. Louis Park ranked 10th on MnDOT's list.

The intersection of Highway 7 and Aquila Avenue/Blake Road in St. Louis Park is the 10th most dangerous in the state, according to a list released Wednesday to KARE-11 TV.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation based the rankings on a weighted average of crash severity over a three-year period. For instance, a minor property damage accident was weighted as one point, while a traffic fatality garnered 70 points.

Topping the list was Minnesota Highway 15 and Minnesota Highway 23/2nd Street South in St. Cloud. The Highway 7 and Aquila Avenue intersection was the only St. Louis Park intersection on the list. However, Highway 7 was on the list twice—its intersection with County 101 in Minnetonka ranked 16th.
