Five Fun Things to Do This Weekend

The thermometer's sudden drop in the last few days might be a sign that the season is changing, but there is still some fairly warm weather on the horizon. This weekend, for instance, should be in the mid- to upper-60s—not exactly balmy, but nice enough to leave the house and check out these events:

  • Why Go: On National Gymnastics Day, Mini-Hops Gym will host an attempt to break a World Record for "The Most Handstands Held Simultaneously" and raise funds for the Children's Miracle Network. Give it a whirl and throw your feet up.

  • When: Saturday, Sept. 17, 3-6 p.m.
  • Where:  St. Louis Park
  • Why Go: The Lenox Neighborhood Association invites residents for a potluck picnic to meet neighbors, play some lawn games, explore city vehicles and meet with a police spokesperson regarding area crime and safety.
