SLP Construction Season in Full Swing

As the old joke goes, Minnesota has two seasons—winter and road construction.

It's safe to say that it isn't winter in St. Louis Park.

A number of construction projects are underway in town, so Patch has rolled out a quick guide to navigating all the orange cones, trucks and bulldozers. Also, we've mapped the projects at right.

Local Street Rehab

A number of local streets are being worked on as part of the city's annual street rehabilitation program. This year, the work is concentrated in the north central part of town.

• The majority of scheduled work in the Eliot and Eliot View neighborhoods is done.
• Work is underway in the Pennsylvania Park area, including underground water main construction on portions of Oregon Avenue South, and Nevada Avenue South between 18th Street and Franklin Avenue. The water main work is nearing completion.
• Oregon and Nevada avenues will be paved within the next few weeks.
• The whole project should be done by the fall.

Street Seal-coating

A number of St. Louis Park streets will be temporarily closed as part of this project, which began this week. Here is a detailed map. Completion is expected by the end of the month.

Minnehaha Bridge Work

Construction of the south half of the Excelsior Boulevard bridge over Minnehaha Creek will be ongoing until the end of August. When that is complete, major work on the street itself will begin and go through October, narrowing traffic to one lane in each direction.

Highway 7 and Blake/Aquila

got underway earlier this month. Crews expect to be done by the end of August.

Park Center Boulevard Asphalt Project

Park Center Boulevard, between Excelsior Boulevard and W. 36th Street, is getting a new coat of asphalt this month. Expect occasional lane closures through Sept. 1.

West 44th Street Reconstruction

W. 44th Street, between Wooddale and France avenues, is being re-done this summer. Expect that project to last until the end of October. Some of this project spills into Edina, and the city has more information available on its website.
