(UPDATED) Four Firkins' Alvey up for 'Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year'

The owner of the St. Louis Park craft beer store is one of three finalists for the Twin West Chamber honor.

Jason Alvey, owner of St. Louis Park craft beer store , is one of three finalists for the Twin West Chamber of Commerce's "Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year" award.

The winner will be announced during a lunch on Thursday. The other two finalists are Frank Gustafson, CEO of RenovoData Services, and John Sturgess, founder of ADOGO Pet Hotel.

Alvey opened his store in 2008, and he's had immediate success, with his store becoming known as the source for craft beer in the area. In the past year, he , as his business had outgrown its old Minnetonka Boulevard home.

The native Australian has also had an impact politically. He pushed for legislation to allow liquor stores to sell T-shirts, and during the most recent session, a "Four Firkins bill" passed. Alvey is and hopes to expand the Firkins line.
