It's All About the Trains

So what's going on with light rail—and freight rail—in our community?

Hello everyone, this is my first blog entry and I'm going to keep it short and to the point.

There are a lot of thoughts and sentiments running on the rails (no pun intended) in the community concerning the Southwest Light Rail Transitway and its implications on the freight rail issue reported on as well as other media outlets. One thing that comes up in nearly every conversation I have as a SW LRT Management Committee representative (more on that in just a bit) is the sheer amount of confusion and sometimes misinformation that is circulating the globe regarding freight and light rail.  I hope through my blog here and with other resources we can begin to clarify the misnomers, inaccuracies and mis-truths to some extent that are circulating around these issues.

As the elected representative who sits on the Corridor Management Committee involved with the Southwest Light Rail Transit project,  I hope I can contribute to the discussions at-large, and to help facilitate the sharing of informative and knowledgeable resources that can help shed further light and accurate information on what is going on—not only with the LRT, but to some degree, with the freight rail issue, too.

So, for my very next blog I'm going to select an issue to gain some clarification on here.  There are many issues to choose from and I think the best thing to do is have you out there in Patch-land suggest a few.  I'll pick one, get the subject matter expert engaged on it and report back on our findings.  It will sort of be like a treasure hunt—we'll set a goal of finding out something, and I'll go find out the answer and report back on where the treasure is.

In the meantime, you are welcome to reach me here at Patch for any thoughts, constructive comments and stimulating reaction.
