Coen Brothers Receive Grand Prix at Cannes Film Festival

The St. Louis Park natives were awarded the honor for their film 'Inside Llewyn Davis.'

The jury at the 66th Annual Cannes Film Festival awarded St. Louis Park natives Joel and Ethan Coen the festival’s Grand Prix, festival organizers announced Sunday.

The Minnesota duo received the honor—which is second to Cannes’ top prize, the Palm d’Or—for their film Inside Llewyn Davis.

The movies tells the story of a young folk singer, Llewyn Davis, in the Greenwich Village music scene of 1961. Oscar Isaac plays Davis. The film also stars Carey Mulligan, John Goodman, Garrett Hedlund, F. Murray Abraham and Justin Timberlake.
