Key to Awesome-ness: It can be tough to get a city council to sign something, but on Monday night, St. Louis Park Girl Scouts made it look easy.

The 8- and 9-year-olds combined cuteness with knowledge as they gave a presentation on the importance of water preservation. The girls then got the members of the council to all sign “water saver” pledges.

The work of the sharp third graders is also currently on display at the St. Louis Park Library, where passers-by can learn a number of important facts, such as how much water someone needs to drink, why keeping streams clean is so important and how many people in the world lack clean water.

Even U.S. Rep. Keith Ellison, who followed the Girl Scouts’ presentation Monday night, was impressed.

“Most adults get their environmental information from their children,” he said. “So, those young ladies working on water are probably going to educate their parents with what they just learned.”
