Several Local 9/11 Observances Planned

The 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks is Sunday.

With Sunday marking the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, a number of observances have been planned in the west metro. If you know of other events that are not listed below, feel free to tell others by posting a comment.

  • When: 8:45 a.m.
  • Where:
  • Details: Observe the 10th anniversary of 9/11 with members of the local fire department at the time when the first tower fell.

  • When: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Where:  St. Louis Park
  • Details: Wear red, white and blue to this church service to mark the 10th anniversary of 9/11. There will also be letter writing to military personnel, a chicken dinner and more.

  • When: Noon to 4:30 p.m.
  • Where: Grace Church (9301 Eden Prairie Road, Eden Prairie)
  • Details: West metro safety personnel will participate in the Grace Church event and ceremony honoring those who lost their lives 10 years ago during the tragedy of 9/11.

  • When: 7 p.m.
  • Where:  Minneapolis
  • Details: The community is invited to the 10th Anniversary Memorial Concert featuring "Armed Forces Salute," "Stars & Stripes Forever," Tchaikovsky's "1812 Overture," local composer Carol Barnett's "American Kaleidoscope" and "Amazing Grace." The evening will culminate with "God Bless America" and fireworks.
