(VIDEO) Local Cub Scouts Have Need for Speed

St. Louis Park Pack 225 held its Pinewood Derby on Saturday.

More than 50 unique race cars—designed by St. Louis Park Cub Scouts—were on display Saturday, as Pack 225 had its annual Pinewood Derby.

Since 1953, Cub Scouts across the country have participated in the race. Youngsters first must build their cars from kits that include wheels, axles and a wooden block. The racers are built for speed, but Scouts also have a flair for style, adding their own personal touches to the cars.

"The boys do have a good time," said John Hein, Cub Master for Pack 225.
