(PHOTOS) Tornado Clean-up Progresses in St. Louis Park

Fallen trees have become piles of timber or mulch in many places as people work tirelessly.

Two days after a tornado ravaged the Cedarhurst Neighborhood in northeast St. Louis Park, clean up is progressing, as trees that once lay on roofs have largely been taken down and cut up.

In many places, blue tarps have replaced fallen trees on rooftops. This is the case at the residence of Victor and Lisa Valdez. On Sunday, a tree . The two weren’t injured, but Victor Valdez said he was a bit shaken up.

“I was standing there amazed I was still alive,” he said.

Around the corner—and just across the border into Golden Valley—Bill Harris said it took a hired worker six hours to remove a tree from his roof on Monday. That tree has been chopped up into logs that are now resting on Harris’ yard—and could be for some time. He said his insurance company and the city of Golden Valley have both so far refused to come pick up the debris.

Though he’s dealing with what to do with all of the timber, Harris said he is lucky that he and his son are OK after having been inside the house when the tornado hit.

“It could have been a lot worse,” Harris said.
