Parktacular Art Hunt Begins Today

St. Louis Park residents are invited to look for small pieces of art in parks across town.

Starting today, St. Louis Park residents young and old are invited to hunt for mini-art in the parks as a kickoff to Parktacular.

Local artist William Hessian has painted 10 miniature art pieces, just 1-inch-by-1-inch each, and hidden them in St. Louis Park parks. Local families must now find them, while Hessian helps along the way by posting photographic clues on his website.

Finders keep the art, and during Parktacular are awarded prizes at the Mini-Art Hunt Awards on Saturday, June 16, at 4 p.m.

Fans can also meet the artist at his booth in Kidtacular, the kids area of Parktacular, on June 16 from 2-6 p.m. He will host an interactive artist station, and kids can learn about painting and drawing. Hessian will also present the awards from his booth.

This is a free event and open to everyone, and it's asked that hunters limit their finds to one piece of artwork per family. More information and a listing of parks in St. Louis Park can be found at www.parktacular.org under "Special Events."
