Five Fun Things to Do This Weekend

Patch has a rundown of some great events in and around St. Louis Park Aug. 12-14.

This weekend doesn't figure to be as warm as some of our past weekends, but for many folks, that's A-OK. With sunny skies and temperatures in the upper-70s, you could even call this weekend a perfect time to get out of the house. Here is some encouragement:

  • When: Friday, Aug. 12 at 7:30 p.m.
  • Where: Minneapolis
  • Why Go: The music of Peter Wolf Crier will be featured and followed by the movie "Labyrinth" at dusk.
  • Price: Free admission

  • When: Friday and Saturday at 10 p.m.
  • Where: St. Louis Park
  • Why Go: Bowling with a cosmic light show, music and drink specials is the only way to roll. JP the Radio Slave will be in charge of music on Saturday night.
  • Price: $15 to bowl for the night

  • When: Saturday, Aug. 13, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Where:  Hopkins
  • Why Go: Teams will play in a wiffleball tournament to help raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. There will also be live music by Whiskey Tango Foxtrot and Battlefish.
  • Price: Free spectating

  • When: Saturday, Aug. 13 at 8 p.m.
  • Where: New Hope Cinema Grill (2749 Winnetka Avenue N)
  • Why Go: Join the Stillwater native for a Saturday night laugh.
  • Price: $15

  • When: Sunday, Aug. 14, 5 to 7 p.m.
  • Where:  St. Louis Park
  • Why Go: A reception for artist Carolyn Light Bell celebrates her photography exhibit that showcases the beauty found in life.
