Swindler Claims He's a SLP Police Officer and a Marine Stationed at Knollwood Mall

The man told a St. Louis Park woman who he scammed out of $1,000 that if she called police, he would follow her to Africa and kill her.

A 35-year-old St. Louis Park woman was swindled out of $1,000 by a man claiming to be a St. Louis Park police officer also serving as a marine stationed at Knollwood mall.

The woman met the man on Facebook, where they talked about her brother living in Africa, who she was trying to help move to America.

“As a marine, [I] can bring people over on flights,” the man told her.

She kept calling the man. Once, he answered, told her to stop calling about the money and hung up. Another time, he told her that if she called police about the money, he would follow her to Africa later this year and kill her there.

St. Louis Park police were unable to make contact with the man.
