St. Louis Park High School's new principal, Joann Karetov, recently released a video introducing herself to students and parents and talking about her goals for the high school.
A former English teacher, Karetov comes to St. Louis Park from Columbia Heights, where she served as principal for three years.
"Joining the St. Louis Park High School family is such an honor and a privilege for me," she says in the video. "I so value the culture of excellence and the history of the school."
A major goal of Karetov's for the 2013-14 school year is to reduce the failure rate.
"Evidence shows that if students find success at ninth grade, they are statistically more likely to graduate from high school on-time and in four years," she says. "Our students need to be prepared for a world that we have yet to envision."
