18 Golden Retriever Service Dogs Lap Up Ice Cream at Galaxy Drive In

The hot dog stand provided free ice cream to graduates of the service dog non-profit Helping Paws.

A dozen-and-a-half golden retrievers were treated to ice cream cones Wednesday evening at St. Louis Park's Galaxy Drive In.

The pooches were celebrating their graduation from the service dog training program run by the Hopkins-based organization Helping Paws.

"All were so well behaved," said Pat Lindquist, a Helping Paws representative. "No barking at all."

Helping Paws trains labs and golden retrievers to work as service dogs for people with physical disabilities.

The dogs that came to Galaxy Wednesday night had been trained since they were eight weeks old.
