(VIDEO) St. Louis Park Firefighters Give Back

With help from the Park Tavern, local firefighters made a toy donation on Thursday.

On Thursday, St. Louis Park firefighters turned on their lights and made an important stop at a local building, but it's one they wouldn't mind making again and again.

With help from the , the firefighters dropped off a donation of more than 200 toys at St. Louis Park nonprofit Perspectives. It was the third year in a row that firefighters and the Park Tavern teamed up to give back, an initiative which has been dubbed “Holidays in the Community.”

"This is one of the pleasure events we love to attend," said assistant fire chief Mark Windschitl. "We love to come in with red lights and sirens to an event like this."

Laura Rogers, director of volunteers at Perspectives, said the toys will go to a number of families that use the nonprofit's services. Perspective's mission is to help at-risk families and children break the cycle of addiction, homelessness or mental illness through a variety of programs, including supportive housing and parent education.

"This is very exciting for our families, who otherwise wouldn't have gifts to give their children," Rogers said. "God bless the Park Tavern, because they're always giving, and the St. Louis Park Fire Department. We love you guys."
