(VIDEO) Demolition Underway at Fire Station No. 2
St. Louis Park is opening two new stations this spring.
With the new Fire Station No. 2 open and looming in the background, demolition of St. Louis Park's old began on Monday.
An excavator dug into the side of the roughly 40-year-old station all afternoon, hauling large chunks of debris away (see video above).
Firefighters already in late March. A ceremonial ribbon cutting and public opening is scheduled for May 12.

Across town, construction continues on the new , which is expected to be in use by May 7. A ribbon cutting there is scheduled for June 12, coinciding with the annual Fire Department Open House.
Construction of the two new fire stations is a roughly $15.5 million project that, to date, has taken about 11 months.
