Support For Obama Drops In St. Louis Park
Results from Tuesday and 2008 show more residents this year liked the Mitt Romney, other candidates, or decided to write their choice on the ballot.
A lower percentage of St. Louis Park voters supported President Barack Obama this year than in 2008, according to results from the Secretary of State's Office.
On Tuesday, 64.1 percent of District 46A voters supported Obama, compared to 33.6 percent for Romney and 2.3 percent for other candidates and write-ins. In District 46B, 65.6 percent of voters supported Obama, 31.9 percent Romney and 2.6 percent other candidates and write-ins.
In the 2008 election, 67.5 percent of the voters in former St. Louis Park District 44A supported the president, while Romney received 30.6 percent of the vote and other candidates and write-ins received 1.9 percent. In former District 44B, 68 percent supported Obama, 30.3 percent supported John McCain and 1.7 percent preferred other candidates and write-ins.

Really; 30.6 percent of 44A voters supported Romney in the general election in 2008... when McCain was the GOP nominee who was on the ballot? In the same fashion, let me critique the subhead "Results from Tuesday and 2008 show more residents this year liked the Mitt Romney." A) The Mitt Romney? B) Romney wasn't on the ballot in 2008!!! So we don't really know how many residents liked Romney in 2008, do we? One other point: Neither 46A nor 46B solely contain St. Louis Park, meaning that results for those districts do not necessarily reflect whether St. Louis Park voters differed in their DFL vs. GOP preferences in 2012 compared to 2008. Finally, it's worth noting that Senate District 46 now contains southeast Plymouth and Medicine Lake, meaning that there are additional voters in the district now who may not lean as heavily Democratic as the residents of the old, geographically smaller SD44. In conclusion, without stats specific to St. Louis Park itself, the evidence is lacking that St. Louis Park voters supported Obama to a lesser degree this year.

Are you going somewhere with this observation? Is a shift from 67 to 64 percent significant enough to "highlight" with a Headline?
To me it feels like the Vikings pointing out that they were only beaten by two touchdowns instead of three.
