UPDATE: Life Time Fitness Reopens Following Chemical Leak

One individual was treated at the Hennepin County Medical Center for a possible allergic reaction related to the chemical leak.

The St. Louis Park Life Time Fitness on Cedar Lake Road reopened Friday afternoon, following an unspecified chemical leak at the facility earlier in the day.

Crews responded to the fitness center at 8 a.m. Friday, May 10, on reports of a possible chemical leak, evacuating the building and treating three people on scene for possible exposure to the chemical. One additional person had been transported to the Hennepin County Medical Center prior to the evacuation for a possible allergic reaction, which has since been deemed related to the chemical release.

The Hopkins Fire Department's Chemical Assessment Team was called in to the scene to help determine what happened, ultimately finding the release was related to pool cleaning chemicals. It's not yet known specifically which chemical was involved, though chlorine has already been ruled out.
