Support Literacy with the Junior League of Minneapolis at "Books4Bowling"
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (February 4, 2013) The Junior League of Minneapolis (JLM) will host its annual “Books4Bowling”
event Sunday, February 24 from 12:30 to 4:00 p.m. at The Park Tavern, 3401 Louisiana Avenue South in St. Louis Park.
For more than six years, the JLM has held this fundraiser to benefit Read Indeed, a Hopkins-based nonprofit started by seventh grader Maria Keller. Her goal is to make the world a better place, one book at a time.
"The Junior League of Minneapolis is proud to partner again with Read Indeed to help get books into the hands of kids in our community,” says Annalee Habstrit, JLM Helping Hands Chair. “Through our Books4Bowling event, we bring the community together for a fun-filled event for all ages while promoting literacy. Our planning committee is excited to build on the great successes of this event and introduce team sign-ups, new contests and prizes that will appeal to kids and adults alike!"
"Books4Bowling is a wonderful way for families and friends to enjoy a favorite pastime while addressing the issue of
literacy in Minneapolis," says Maura Keller, executive director of Read Indeed. "We are thrilled to be a part of this fabulous community event orchestrated by the Junior League of Minneapolis."
Everyone in the community is welcome to take part in Books4Bowling, regardless of age or bowling ability! A donation of $10 or ten books per person is required to participate. The event will also feature free pizza, soda, face painting and balloons. Prizes will be awarded for best team name, best scores and in other exciting categories.
Teams are invited to sign up for 30-minute bowling timeslots on jlminneapolis.org.
